Thoughts on Common Core

I remember sitting in 6th grade orientation for my oldest daughter and hearing about Common Core for the first time. I left that meeting feeling confused. Why were they making these changes? Why so suddenly? Why couldn't anyone give educated answers to these questions? I remember thinking, I guess this is just the way it is.

I've heard principals and educators defend the Common Core, and I must say not one of them can do it with real conviction.

And then I watched the Common Core documentary. Which answered a lot of questions and then created a host of others.

Here is what I think I understand from watching the video: Big business and high government tricked states into implementing Common Core by offering them money for education and giving them minimal deadlines to write grants.

Here is the biggest question still remaining. Why?
