The World's Strangest Contest

Do you know somebody named Jasmine who likes churros?  No, this isn't my idea of the worst way to open a conversation, I'm really asking.  I have a book to give away.  It's a copy of Cinder and Ella that is signed to someone named Jasmine.  It also says, "I like churros, too."

Here's the story:
I was at my fist signing at the Ogden, UT Costco.  A family came by and picked up a book for their daughter named Jasmin.  Problem?  I spelled it Jasmine in the book.  Jasmine with an "e" at the end.  So, I did what anybody would do.  I got a new book, spelled it right and purchased the mess up myself.  Yes, now I realize that was silly; I should have just crossed out the "e" or drawn a tree over it or something.  Nonetheless, I have a randomly signed copy of Cinder and Ella and it's time to let go of it.

What to do to enter this contest:
Leave a comment telling me what you would have done in this situation.  And whether you know someone named Jasmine who likes churros or not, the book could be yours.

Share and enjoy!

Oh, and this contest will end at midnight on January 20th.  (That's Friday if you were wondering.)

I might have drawn a flower or frozen. It all depends on how my day is going.
Hmm...After a rapid mental spaz-session, I think I'd have turned the E into an elaborate curlicue, and maybe tossed in a tiny butterfly nearby for good measure...Or I'd have totally flipped out, haha
Was it in cursive or print? That would definitely change what I would do. If it was cursive, my e's tend to be a straight line any way, so I probably would have just faked it. If it was printed, I might have tried to make a random pattern out of it. But most likely, I would have done exactly what you did. Sign another one.

Also, there should be a law requiring all girls named Jasmine to like Churros. Because really. Churros are awesome.

I would have done just what you did!! Got a new book, spelled the name right then save the book to give to someone like me who really really just wants to read your book, but can NOT find it at her local library and doesn't care whose name is inside!! Perfect!!

Oh, and I do not know anyone named Jasmine or even Jasmin for that matter who like or does not like churros.
I would have frozen and been like, "ummmm...do you mind too much?" I'm not creative enough to have instantly thought of making the e into something else as others have suggested, though that's a great idea.
I probably would have made it into a giant exclamation point then wished I had done as you had.

I know a lot of people but I can't think of one of them named Jasmin...and I like churros, too.
I probably would have done the same thing you did. Awkward ~~ and you want to keep the reader happy, right?

I do know someone named Jasmine, not sure if she likes churros or not - let's just say she does. :^}

Thanks for the great giveaway!

Coming from someone who's name was always misspelled growing up, I would've done what you did. I would've felt bad that I assumed it had an e & spelled her name wrong. If I couldn't get another copy I would have probably sketched something over it, making sure you couldn't see the e underneath. Alas, I do not know a Jasmine who likes churros... I do love Cinder & Ella though & I think this could make a quirky, but very welcome edition to my bookshelf.

Thanks for the giveaway!

Ironically enough, I don't have a copy of this book yet. So I'm going to enter your contest. :)

I like your little thought about drawing a tree to cover it up; if I thought of that in time I might have done it. Provided I was artistically talented enough to draw a tree. Which I'm not. So I approve of what you did. :)

I DO know someone named Jasmine with an "e"... but it alludes me whether or not she likes churros.
Oh I found you too late and missed the contest :-/
